Halloween Projects

Hi Everyone
Thought I would share a few things I have made working up to Halloween. Did a video on my YouTube but have only just got around to putting it on my here.
As I have quite a big family, and we live quite close to each other, we spend a lot of special occasions together, such as Halloween, Easter, Christmas etc. This year it was my turn to do a party at my house (pulling my hair out at the mere thought...... hee hee.)
So after getting things organised at the last minute, like food, decor, etc. I decided to make my own invitations. These needed to be quick and simple, as I was making quite a few in a short time.
In the end I think they worked out really well, were easy to do and served their purpose.
The next thing I came up with was to alter a couple of bottles of wine to use as prizes in some Halloween games. Firstly I started with a bottle of good quality wine, changed the labels and and created a super spooky bottle of booze. Check out my video......
They went down very well (a little too well with a couple of guests) and everyone wanted one of the bottles.

Son's Birthday

My son turned 12 this summer, how time has flown by....
I can still remember the day I bought him home from the hospital, he was so tiny, my husband could hold him in one hand.
So this year for his Birthday he wanted to go target shooting with his dad, grandad and uncle. They all went to an Air Rifle shooting range and spent the day shooting targets.

They also shot anything else they could get their hands on, including tin cans and plastic bottles.
The remnants of a coke can
My son admiring his handywork
My son and his grandad setting up some more targets
My son had a great time and wants to go again soon as he thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Thanks as always for reading my blog, hope you enjoyed it.

Home Grown

Hi Everyone

At the start of the year, the kids and I decided that we were going to have a little project together. This project was growing our own veg. Not as easy as you would think.

The potatoes were amazing and we had so many that I haven't had to buy any in ages. We don't have a greenhouse, so we decided to grow the tomatoes in the conservatory, which was ok to begin with but for ages there were no tomatoes on the plants. So we decided to put them outside and within a week we had loads and still have loads growing even though it is nearly October.

The lettuces, peppers and cucumbers were a no show as they were eaten by every slug in the garden. However as you can see the carrots are amazing and there are plenty to go around to all the family and friends.
I would love to hear about projects that you have attempted this year.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and come back to visit my blog soon.

My Daughter's Donation

Hello

My Daughter had heard about this charity called the Little Princess Trust, which creates real hair wigs for boys and girls with cancer for free, and wanted to learn more about it.
My husband found the link on the net, so Lily and I sat there and watched it together. It has a short video presented by Gail Porter, who is an ambassador for the charity. By the end of the video we both were in floods of tears and searching the house for more tissues.
Straight away my daughter said she wanted to donate her hair, at first I was a bit unsure as she has never had much off her hair before, only an inch or 2 at one time. She has always had long hair so I said that I would look into it a more to find out how much they would need and the process that you needed to go through.
After further research she was still adamant that she wanted to do it. I warned her that once it was cut there was no going back, you can't stick it back on.

So it was off to the hair dressers to get 10 inches taken off (they accept 6 but Lily had a lot of hair and wanted to donate as much as possible).

Here is a short video that Lily wanted to make of her getting her hair cut.

Here are some more photos from the hair dressers.

I am so proud of her and know it meant a lot for her to do this for someone else.

She is now growing it long again so that she can make another donation.

If you are interested in donating go to http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/

God Daughter's Rug

Hope everyone has had a great bank holiday, been really busy with getting things ready for when the kids go back to school. The joys of hitting the busy town with three kids in tow, but I have done most of it now, which is good. I thought I would show you what I have been working on over the last few weeks.
My God daughter turns 2 next week and I love to make things as they always have far to many toys.

I have never done one of these before and my hands were a little sore by the end of it but it was worth it.

Went with Winnie the Pooh as this is what her room is decorated in.

If you have any questions please leave them below.

I would love you to sign up to my blog.
Take Care

Introduction

I have loved creating things ever since I was little, and hope to pass a few things I have picked up along the way to my daughters.
My Nan is a dress maker by trade, so I guess that is where it all comes from, the love of different fabrics, buttons, zips, cottons, need I go on, the house is overwhelmed by them all.
My husband would say that I am a craftaholic, as I am crafting away for hours trying out new ideas, as well as dragging him to the local Craft shops looking to bag a bargain.
I have been brought up in a big Greek family where food and family are a big part of our lives. I hope to share some of my recipes with you on my site.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
